Dr Norman Eizenberg Prize
Norm is a Professor (Adjunct) at Melbourne Clinical School, University of Notre Dame and Honorary Principal Fellow, Anatomy and Physiology, University of Melbourne. He is Anatomy Specialty Editor, ANZ Journal of Surgery and a general medical practitioner. Norm coordinated anatomy teaching programs (primarily to medical students and surgical trainees) for more than 45 years. He was also an Anatomy Examiner, Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and Chair of Anatomy Examiners, Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists. Norm's major areas of research and scholarship are in medical education and anatomical variations, culminating as project leader of Anatomedia Online (a comprehensive anatomy program now incorporated within AnatomediaPLUS). He has received a 'Meritorious Service Award' from the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons, plus an 'Outstanding Service Award' and Honorary Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. In 2000 he was awarded a Universitas 21 Teaching Fellowship (for 'educational innovation'); in 2014 he was a Victorian Australian of the Year finalist (for 'outstanding contribution: anatomist, doctor and educationalist'); and in 2024 he received an Honorary Life Membership from the ANZ Association of Clinical Anatomists.
